Kate graduated from the University of Tasmania with a combined degree of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law with Honours in Law in 2010 and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 2011. Since then Kate has practised exclusively in Tasmania, specialising in commercial and planning law.
Kate joined Ogilvie Jennings’ commercial and property law team in 2018, having worked for another Tasmanian firm for the preceding 6 years. Working in this position she developed a keen interest in procurement and the various legal issues that arise in relation to procurement projects.
Kate has assisted commercial, private, and not-for-profit clients with various commercial transactions including supply chain agreements, business restructuring, sale and purchase agreements, capital raising, and joint venture projects. Her experience also includes providing advice in relation to the negotiation of commercial transactions, managing commercial projects, due diligence, corporate governance matters, competition and consumer law issues, and personal properties and securities law.
Prior to practising in the commercial area, Kate worked with clients engaged with Tasmania’s planning law system. She has experience helping clients to navigate the often complex planning process to achieve successful outcomes in relation to residential and commercial building projects. Kate’s experience with planning law includes assisting clients with matters before the Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal and the Tasmanian Planning Commission.
